I graduated at the University of Porto in Philosophy, and did my Master and Ph.D. in Information Science at the University of Coimbra. I am a professor of the Faculty of Arts, University of Coimbra, and also Director of the Department of Philosophy, Communication and Information and of the Library and Information Services of the Faculty. The main themes of research are focused on digital libraries and scholarly communication, particularly on open access to scientific literature, digital humanities, intellectual property and information metrics.
